Take a look at the latest technology used in the manufacturing process at Light Bicycle:
EcoTek – Meticulous care is taken during the carbon layup & assembly process. This, alongside new molds engineered from the highest grade of steel, deliver a near flawless product without the need for post-production sanding or painting, as well as fewer heating cycles to produce the rim.
ExoTek – New & improved resin system has a superior consistency, producing the smoothest and most durable finish to date. From a lengthened fatigue life to more robust interlaminar bonds, ExoTek raises the bar in performance and aesthetic.
BlackTek – Traditionally made carbon rims are wet sanded to remove imperfections like excess resin, & then sprayed with a clear coat. Light Bicycle's Recon Pro XC rims feature BlackTek, where the outer carbon layer is never disturbed once exiting the mold after the curing cycle. This is the most hardwearing & scratch resistant finish they have produced.
Flyweight – Light Bicycle's Flyweight construction method uses an exclusive unidirectional prepreg carbon with a low fiber aerial weight. Spoke holes are reinforced at key areas with a variable thickness nipple bed, eliminating excess material. A blend of Toray T700 & T800 carbon offers weight saving benefits without compromising strength or stiffness of rim.
